Summary of September Deacon Board Meeting


  • Thanksgiving baptismal joint worship service will be held on Oct 11 at 11am. 
  • Operation Christmas Child empty shoe boxes will be distributed on October 11 during worship service and the internal collection date is on November 15. 
  • Christmas Celebration events: Clothing drive (coordinator: Maggie Leung) will be on December 6 – 13. Christmas Charity Dinner (coordinator: Deacon Keddy Au Yeung and Samson Chan) will be on December 20. Dinner tickets are $15 per adult and $8 per child age 4-10. Net proceeds from all fundraiser events will be for aiding the Syrian refugees. 
  • The church will employ Aqua City Restorations Ltd to repaint and repair the exterior walls of the entire church building. The total cost will be $7,650 plus GST. 
  • The church will renew a 2-years rental lease with, Hemrich Bros, the tenant downstairs by the end of this year. 
  • Pastor Alan will take leave for study from September 22 – October 1, 2015. Pastor Gladys and Anders will be on annual leave from October 14 -28, 2015. 
  • The church will not use songs from Music 2000 Ltd for the time being due to copyrights issues.

  • Worship duties list is posted on the church website. Please contact Deacon Peter, Deacon Justin or the church secretary if you are not available for the duties. Please do not make changes on your own.  
  • Try to use offering envelopes for your tithe and offering. If you have forgotten your offering number, please contact the church office. 
  • AWANA Matching Program needs your support! Every month at AWANA Store, we encourage the clubbers to donate the AWANA Shares they were awarded to a designated charity, in order to nurture in them a caring heart for the world and the people around us. For every Share they donate, we would like to invite donors to match with a $5 donation. If you would like to be a matching donor, please contact Pastor Alan. 
  • The monthly bulletin has been posted on the bulletin board in the church foyer. Please check for important church updates.

  • WBC301 will begin at 2:30pm today at room E. This course is for baptized members who want to find out their spiritual gifts and a place of ministry at Westside. 
  • For those who are new to Westside and if you have not filled out a guest record form, please get one from our ushers. Also contact Pastor Gladys or one of our SG leaders if you want to know more about us or join our small groups. 
  • Brenda Leung will be on furlough in Vancouver from her mission field in September. She will share her experiences and financial needs for her next mission project during worship services. An extended sharing and luncheon will be held on September 27 at 12:30pm. The cost is $8 per person. Please sign up on the bulletin board. 
  • An open house for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program will be held on September 27 at 2:30pm. This program is started as a bridge to reach out to the community. It is suitable for teens and youth ages 14 - 19. The registration fee per participant per year is $100. Please invite youths who fall in this age group to attend and get more information about the program. If you are interested to know more about this program or in helping out, please contact the coordinator, Kenald Yu or the co-leader, Carson Lai. Also please pray for God’s guidance in the development of this new ministry. 
  • 2016-2018 Deaconship Election 
    • Existing deacons are Keddy Au Yeung, Samson Chan, Justin Chen, Peter Cheung, Godfrey Leung, Lily Liu and Tsz-Lam Mak. 
    • Justin Chen (1st term), Lily Liu (1st term), Tsz-Lam Mak (1st term) deaconship will be ended on December 31, 2015. Therefore, new deacons will be elected to replace the vacant in 2016. 
    • Nomination Committee:

      • Congregation Rep: Doris Lee, Kelly Lo, Cannis Wan

  • Registration for ‪‎AWANA‬ in Sep15-Jun16 is now open and is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. T & T and Sparks are already full. Limited vacancies are still available for Cubbies and Puggles! Please contact Pastor Alan for more details. 
  • Meditation retreat will be held today between 2pm – 4pm. The topic is “Healing Life’s Wound 3. God turns mourning into dancing”. Please sign up at the bulletin board.
