• The monthly bulletin has been posted on the bulletin board in the church foyer. Please check for important church updates.

• The next Christian Education course will be on April 17 between 2:00pm -3:30pm. The topic is Theology 101 – T.U.L.I.P.(freewill or predestination?) please register at the bulletin board if you are interested.
• The church will host a parents’ outreach dinner event on June 19, 2016. Please invite unchurch parents to attend the event. Details are to be announced. 
• The Children Summer Camp is open for registration now. The event is from July 4 to August 26. Please check the church website and bulletin board for more details. 
• The church is now hiring a Children Summer Program coordinator. Please refer to the bulletin board or the website for more detail.

Children Summer Camp - Registration Begins

Who: From children attending Preschool in September 2016 and who will reach 3 years of age by July 4, 2016 to children attending Grade 3 in September 2016.
*** Children must be toilet trained
Dates: July 4, 2016 to August 26, 2016
*** Registration is on weekly basis. Campers can sign up for 1 week up to all 8 weeks.
Time: Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm
Activities: Games, songs, story time, arts and crafts, cooking lessons, weekly field trips and many more!
Fee: $150 per week (except for week of August 2-5, which contain a statutory holiday, and the registration fee is $120).
Registration fee can be paid through cash or cheque made payable to “Westside Baptist Church.” Camper’s spot will only be reserved when both the registration form and the payment are received. There is no refund if you choose to resign from the program once the registration form and payment is submitted.

Easter Sunday Baptismal worship service

The sermon on March 27th @11am Easter Sunday Baptismal worship service will be conducted in Chinese language. For those who need English translation, please bring their own radio, earphone and tune the radio to FM99.7.

Summary of Deacon Board Meeting March 6, 2016

• The church will hold a prayer walks event during the church anniversary joint worship service on May 1st. Details are to be announced. 
• BCY Regional assembly will be on June 24-26 at White Rock Baptist Church. 
• Staff vacations: Pastor Alan – March 13-19; Church Secretary Roberta – April 8 – 23; Pastor Gladys and Anders –May 4 – 22. 
• The church will host a parents’ outreach dinner event on June 19, 2016. The event will be coordinated by Deacons Justin, Godfrey and Lily. Details are to be announced. 
• The church will rent out parking spot at $10 each on a Saturday morning for young parents to host a swap meet event for kid’s toys or clothing. 
• Children Summer Program will be held in July and August 2016.

Hiring Children Summer Program Coordinator (Summer contract position)

Westside Baptist Church is hiring ONE 40 hours/week Children Summer Program Coordinator. This is a May 9 to August 26, 2016 (16 weeks) contract-based position. Eligible student participants must:

• be between 15 AND 30 YEARS OF AGE at the start of the employment; 
• have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a fulltime basis in the next academic year; 
• be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; 
• be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations; and, 
• be able to provide a certified criminal record check. 

Job Description:

• Planning, promoting and leading 8 weeks of full-day summer programs for children from preschool to grade 3, possibly with ethnic Chinese background. 
• Training and supervising program assistants. 
• Recruiting, training and supervising volunteers for the program. 

Required Skills:

• Basic computer system, office applications and internet operation 
• Keyboard skills: English & Chinese 
• Language: fluent in spoken and written English and Cantonese; preferably also in Mandarin 
• Skills and experiences working with young children 
• Good interpersonal skills and willing to work in a team; experience in managing a team is a plus. 
• Responsible, organized, self-motivated, willing to learn, and attention to detail.
